THEODORE BROWNE

The tenor Theodore Browne was born in Manchester and raised in Germany as the son of English and South African parents. His diverse repertoire includes works by Rossini and Mozart, Bach, Britten, and Donizetti. In the 2024/25 season, he will be performing as Conte di Libenskof in Rossini's Il viaggio a Reims at the Salzburg Landestheater and as Don Ramiro in Rossini's La Cenerentola at the Staatstheater Darmstadt.

The tenor has successfully appeared at festivals and theaters (e.g., Staatstheater Karlsruhe, Latvijas Nacionālā Opera un Baltes, Tiroler Landestheater, Glyndebourne Opera Festival, Konzert Theater Bern) with roles such as Don Ramiro, Conte Almaviva, Lindoro, and Nemorino. In 2021, he was invited to the Accademia Rossiniana Alberto Zedda as part of the Rossini Opera Festival Pesaro, where he sang the role of Conte di Libenskof in Il viaggio a Reims.

He is also in demand internationally in the concert field, with recent performances taking him to the Rheingau Music Festival, Nymphenburg Palace & the Herkulessaal in Munich, the Cologne Philharmonie, the Borusan Istanbul Philharmonic Orchestra, the SWR Festival in Schwetzingen, as well as the Sopot Festival summer (Poland) and the Znojmo Music Festival (Czech Republic).

He is also winner and prize recipient of several competitions, including the International Music Competition of the Hochschule für Musik und Tanz Köln in 2014, the Bundeswettbewerb Gesang in 2016, the International Ebe Stignani Competizione in Imola in 2018, the International Singing Competition Meistersinger von Nürnberg in 2018, and the Queen Sonia International Music Competition in 2019. From 2012 to 2025, he completed three degrees under Prof. Thomas Heyer at the Hochschule für Musik in Frankfurt. Throughout his musical career, he has received valuable input from various engagements, competitions, coachings and masterclasses, including from Helmut Deutsch, Ernesto Palacio, Nayden Todorov, Robert Gambill, Prof. Eugen Wangler, Camilla Ueberschaer, and Raina Kabaivanska.
